COOP ADRIATICA is one of the largest Italian distribution firms, the second by size amongst the consumers’ cooperatives. It was established in 1995 through the merger between Coop Emilia Veneto and Coop Romagna Marche, that put together their strength and experience in order to better address their partners’ interests and to face the growing competition of the sector. It operates in four Regions (Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Marche and Abruzzo) and it counts more than 900,000 partners and employs about 9,000 people in 14 ipermarkets and 125 supermarkets. Coop Adriatica concretely implements its mutualistic goal by realizing projects with a social purpose (with a strong focus on disadvantaged people) and it is also particularly committed toward the implementation of a process of stakeholder engagement, starting from the very definition of its strategies. Finally, Coop Adriatica has been publishing a Sustainability and Budget Report since 2003.
